I.D.P.A.
The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is affiliated with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Matches are generally held the third Saturday of each month at the Helldorado pistol range, with check-in at eight o'clock and a shooter brief and stage walk through at nine o'clock. Defensive Pistol shooting as a sport is simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not their equipment or gamesmanship. New shooters to IDPA are required to join the IDPA after one match if the shooter desires to compete in additional IDPA events.

Our Cowboy Action group is one of a kind. They practice and compete with weapons of the legendary Wild West. Men, women and children of all ages shoot a variety of stages that replicate old west shoot outs but in a safe, controlled environment. This group dresses up in the best wild west outfits and meets regularly on our famous Helldorado pistol range every month on the third Thursday of every month. They also have a week long adventure in September in which they take over the whole club and have stages set up one every range.
