Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club Range Rules and Procedures
The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is a drug free facility. Any persons believed to be under the influence of, or seen in possession of narcotics will be asked to leave the property. This includes, but is not limited to, the use and/or possession of marijuana. The consumption and possession of alcohol is only permitted on the property if all ranges are closed. Any persons believed to be under the influence of, or seen in possession of alcohol during normal shooting hours will be asked to leave the property.
The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is under 24 hour video surveillance.
The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, at any time, for any reason deemed necessary by or anyone representing the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club Board Of Directors.
Membership Cards:
All members must have their membership cards in their possession at all times while on the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club property. All Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club Board of Directors and Range Safety Officers reserve the right to see a member's membership card at any time. Members will be asked to leave the property if not in possession of their membership card. Members are not allowed to loan their membership card to anyone nor are they allowed to share the gate combination with anyone.
Gate and Driveways:
The gate to the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is controlled by a combination keypad. The gate combination is printed on every membership card. Enter the combination and wait for the gate to open fully before proceeding up the hill.
Vehicles not towing will proceed left after entering the gate.
Big rigs, large RV's and vehicles towing trailers will proceed right after entering the gate.
All vehicles will exit on the east side of the property as indicated by the signage. The gate will automatically open via a sensor in the road. This sensor location is indicated by a white, reflective post on the right side of the road. Once the gate begins to open, stop. Vehicles must wait to proceed until the gate is fully opened and and the driveway is clear of incoming traffic. All vehicles will yield to uphill, incoming traffic.
There is a strict ten mile per hour speed limit on the property. Violating this speed limit anywhere on the property will result in disciplinary action.
Check-In:
All vehicles entering must stop at the check-in kiosk and sign in. Inside the check-in kiosk is a binder with the check-in forms attached. Members will write their full name (as it appears on your membership card), membership number, date of visit, primary reason for visiting (what range you plan on using) and guest names if applicable. Family and or guests must sign a release of liability form prior to continuing on to the facility. They must do this only upon their first visit.
An associate member on the check-in sheet is used for immediate family, that live in home, that are not themselves members. This also includes a live-in significant other.
A guest on the check-in sheet is for a friend or family member not living in home. Any one guest will only be allowed four visits in a one year period. The first visit for a guest is free, the remaining three visits in the year are subject to a five dollar fee. The five dollars is to be placed in a small envelope provided in te check-in kiosk. It is required that the member write their name, the date of visit and membership number on the envelope. Place the envelope into the Iron Ranger. This is a steel box next to the check-in kiosk with a small slot on the left side of the box.
Members are responsible for their guests. There is a maximum of two guests allowed at once. You may not leave your guests unattended for any reason.
General Range Rules and Safety:
Hearing and eye protection is required on any range that is in use.
There is absolutely no shooting while wild game is present on the range.
There are no loaded firearms allowed off the range firing line. The only loaded firearms permitted off the range firing line are holstered pistols.
Rate of fire will be limited to one round per second. Double tapping is allowed with a three second pause between bursts.
Shooters will clean up their shotgun shells/brass prior to leaving each range and dispose of them in the following fashions. Shotgun shells can be disposed of in the trash can indicated "shells". Brass will be disposed of in the aluminum boxes the walls of each range that are labeled "Recycled Brass". Steel casings can be thrown into the trash cans.
If a misfire occurs, the shooter must keep the firearm pointed down range for a minimum of thirty seconds. After thirty seconds has elapsed, the shooter may then attempt to clear the misfire with the weapon still pointed down range. The bad round will be placed into the Dud Box. Each range has a Dud Box. The Main Range box is by the center door, the Helldorado box is located in the center of the covered area and the Back Range box is located underneath the down range light switch.
Do not leave children unattended on the property.
There are first aid kits located in the Club House, mounted on the west wall of the kitchen.
There is a AED (Automated External Defibrillator) located on the west wall, next to the Club House Kitchen. This is to be used only for severe medical emergencies only.
If a medical emergency occurs, call 911 and notify other members on the property that there is a medical emergency and all shooting must be stopped. As soon as possible, call a Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club Board Member and notify them of the incident. Click here to be directed to the Contact Info page.
The Archery Range:
The Archery Range is located in the wooded area, west of the Trap Range.
The Archery Range is one-hundred yards long and there is no members allowed past the one-hundred yard target.
Do not use broad head or expanding tip arrow heads. Only practice tips are allowed.
The Trap Range:
Operation of the trap machines, requires a token. The token machine is located on the North side of the Trap Kitchen. One token cost four dollars. The token machine accepts one, five, ten and twenty dollar bills. One token will get you twenty-eight single clay pigeons and fourteen double clay pigeons.
Trap houses are to be approached on the right side as you walk towards them. Before stepping in front of the trap machine, lean around the corner and look for the red throwing arm. If the red throwing arm can be seen, it is safe to be in front of the trap machine and enter the trap house if needed. Do not step in front of the trap machine if the red throwing arm cannot be seen. To turn on the machine, reach around the wall, and find the switches with your hand. The rear switch is to turn on the trap machine, the front switch is to operate it. Turn on the machine with the rear switch by flipping the switch upward. Once that has been done that you will hear the pump motor turn on. At this time, wait approximately five minutes for the pump to warm up. Once the pump is warmed up, the system can be activated. Do this by putting the front switch in the up position. This will load a clay pigeon. Once this is done, place the orange cone on top of the trap house onto the ground. This indicates that the trap house is hot. To turn off the trap machine, first flip the front switch down. This will release any clay pigeons in the trap machine. DO NOT be in front of the trap machine when you do this. After the clay pigeons are released, flip the rear switch down to turn off the pump. Place the orange cone back on the top of the trap house.
Make sure to replace any microphone covers you take off and neatly coil the cords back onto the stands after use.
To turn on the microphones, find the remote located on the score keeper stand. This remote has a switch and a red button on it. Toggle the switch and a red light will come on, on the remote. When the red light is on, the microphones are activated.
There is only one round allowed in the firearm at a time on the singles range. Only two rounds are allowed at a time on the doubles range.
The Main Range:
The Main Range is open to all members. The Main Range rules have been posted at the main range.
Helldorado:
Enter through the swinging doors only. Do not enter from the side gates. The side gates are only used for special, scheduled events.
Helldorado is a pistol only range except during special, scheduled events.
No pistols larger than .44 magnum are allowed.
Tables at Helldorado must me moved forward to the red firing line before ANY firearms are taken out of their cases.
Metal targets can be used on Helldorado but must be placed no closer than twenty-five yards from the shooting line.
Back Range:
Enter through the main door on the south wall of the range building. Do not enter from the side gates. The side gates are only used for special, scheduled events.
There is a red, flashing down range light on the Back Range that is used to indicated a person is down range. The switch is located on the wall in the north east corner of the range.
The Back Range is for pistol, rifle and shotguns. Shotguns are limited to buck shot or slugs only. No trap shooting allowed.
All shooting is limited to one hundred and twenty yards.
No metal targets are allowed closer than one hundred yards for rifles, no closer than twenty-five yards for pistols.
Shooters are not allowed to shoot at targets that are intended for the Main Range.
